Virginia Tech's Housing and Residence Life (HRL) is a large organization which operates 47 on-campus residence halls housing approximately 9,300 residents. More than just a place to sleep, the on-campus experience is enriched by the initiatives and engagement of our resident student staff (such as resident advisors, house supervisors), our live in professional and para-professional staff (assistant residential learning coordinators, residential learning coordinators) who live in the residence halls. We have 2 faculty principals living within the residential colleges at Ambler Johnston and many other faculty involved in the residential colleges and the living learning communities throughout the residential system. To support such a dynamic environment, HRL has a complete facilities operation (maintenance, housekeeping, lock shop, renovations, fire/safety compliance, warehousing), an occupancy management (assignments & contracting, communications and general services), and a robust conference management area (summer conferences and guest dining plans for groups coming to campus).
