Virginia Tech offers on-campus housing for graduate and professional students. This housing option reflects both the diversity and tradition that are the hallmarks of graduate studies at the university. The facilities are suited to provide privacy, convenience, and an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Graduate Residence Halls
Single- and double-occupancy rooms in the traditional and suite-style are offered to applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible, a student must be admitted by the Virginia Tech Graduate School and enrolled full-time. The facilities are designed to accommodate individual men and women but not married couples. Eligible students are offered housing concurrent with the start of an academic year and as space occasionally becomes available throughout the year.
Students interested in fall semester graduate housing can submit their information to the online graduate housing waiting list as early as the first day of class of the preceding spring semester.
Questions concerning graduate and professional student housing should be directed to the Housing and Residence Life staff at 540- 231-6205 or email@example.com.
Graduate Wait List Sign-Up
For graduate housing, contract offers are made in order of entry date, and determined based on the available housing. Once you have signed up, your student status will be checked and you will receive a receipt e-mail from our office acknowledging your entry onto the waiting list. Students must be enrolled at the University before a contract will be offered.
To add your name to the Wait List, please go to the StarRez Portal, log in with your PID/password and 2-factor authentication, then select Housing and Dining Contracts and then Housing Application Process as the active term. Follow on-screen instructions.
Graduate Room & Board Rates
Room and board rates are posted each spring for the upcoming academic year after approval by the Board of Visitors. Please visit our rates page for details on housing in the Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown and Main Campbell Hall.
The dining facilities are conveniently located near the residence halls. All on-campus residents are required to purchase either a major dining plan.
Off-Campus Housing Options
A variety of off-campus apartment complexes offer special housing for graduate students and their families.
